Chant rant

This past Friday our Schola was invited to participate in Solemn Vespers and Benediction at our diocesan home for the Mass in the Extraordinary Form. The Shrine Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament in Raritan, NJ is the oldest church building in our Diocese and is the only place where Mass is offered in Latin daily.

Pictured at left is a photo of the guys in action. Our group is comprised of four or five very talented church musicians who bring much to the table. There are two or three very experienced fellows from the amateur ranks who through their many years of participation in their respective church choirs have proven themselves to be tremendous musical assets in their own right. Then there is me and my buddy Nescro who struggle to keep up and are just happy to be included. There is a pecking order in the choir loft and by looking at this photo it is not terribly difficult to figure out where Nescro and I are on the food chain. At least we are in the loft and not in the parking lot.
