Old and golden rule days

Shuffling like a convict walking the last mile to the execution chamber my youngest started off her school year this morning. Having been briefed thoroughly last night we were informed by her that at the ripe old age of nine we would no longer be allowed to escort her directly to Iris the ever faithful crossing guard. Instead we would be relegated to the periphery of the Church parking lot where shielded by various flora and fauna she would be able to deny the very existence of her parents to her assembled friends.

The house is quiet. Sigh.
