While the death of Dr. George Tiller will certainly result in a monumental reduction in the amount of late term abortions performed in this country I take no joy in his passing. Though this is not without personal struggle. Mindful of John Cardinal O'Connor's admonition to be unambiguously pro life I have to prayerfully accept that Capital Punishment is the moral equivalent of abortion. And while I still possess blood lust in my heart for those who would victimize children, serial murderers and the like I find myself having to "walk the walk" and learn to be horrified by state sanctioned murder, no matter the motivation behind it.
So as Christians, please find it in your heart as you pray for the millions of innocent victims of people like Dr. Tiller that you pray for his soul as well. Perhaps at the moment of death he experienced a clarity of thought that allowed him to realize the heinous crimes he has committed these many years against the unborn. Also in charity remember the person who commited this murder. In the zeal to protect the innocent sometimes we lose sight of our Faith and do stupid things.

Kansas doctor George Tiller killed today!
WICHITA, Kansas - Media reports say that abortion provider Dr. George Tiller has been shot and killed at his Wichita church. Tiller has been among the few U.S. physicians performing late-term abortion. His clinic has repeatedly been the site of protests for about two decades. He was acquitted in March of misdemeanor charges stemming from procedures he performed, but moments after the verdict the state’s medical board announced it was investigating allegations against him that are nearly identical to those the jury had rejected.
