It was forty years ago today.....

No, not Sergeant Pepper. Forty years ago today Neil Armstrong became the first man to step on to the lunar surface. Stepping from the lunar module Eagle Armstrong and his partners Michael Collins and Buzz Aldrin lit up the imagination of all Americans as they took that "giant leap for mankind".


I remember that only being seven years old at the time my Dad struggled to keep me awake for the late night event knowing what a great memory it would be. And there I sat perched on the couch in the living room watching the amazing but poor images being broadcast from a place that up until that time had been largely a mystery. Now that was a time of hope.....and wonder.
