Running Scared

And so it begins.

If the 2012 presidential election were held today, President Obama and possible Republican nominee Mitt Romney would be all tied up at 45% each, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

Now I know that it is early and as usual the world of politics is very fluid. But I think it is telling that this early in the game the numbers for Mr. Obama are beginning to slip....well OK, plummet. I am encouraged that this may signal a Carteresque scenario. I just hope that there is someway to minimize the damage that Congress can cause in the interim.

And of course there is the blame game. Now that things are not so rosy you will find increasing references to George Bush and how the economic mess is all his fault. With the stranglehold that remains in the main stream media you will be hard pressed to find the few honest journalists that will point the finger directly at the Clinton Administration for our woes. But that is to be expected. Given that Mr. Bush should have done more to intercede and turn back the mistakes of Mr. Clinton clearly the fault is not his to shoulder. But without some significant digging you would never know the truth. I wonder if some up and coming journalist will do the necessary digging to see if there are any parallels between his poll numbers and those of my least favorite peanut farmer at this point in his administration. In that I find a reason to hope.

Much more at the link.
