Julie and Julia

Last night the planets were in line. Thanks to a busy work schedule and a planned sleep over both kids were out of the house. So my wife and I indulged in an interpersonal rarity in our lives. We went out to dinner and a movie.

For those of you without children you are probably chuckling about someone gushing about an activity so mundane that it would barely merit mention around the water cooler on Monday morning. But I assure you that the experience was enchanting.

Faced with some scheduling dilemmas for our little junket we elected to first hit the movie and then catch a late dinner (again, something we haven't done since the early nineties). The evenings entertainment, Julie and Julia.

What a great movie. Charming, funny and very entertaining. It took about 45 seconds to forget you were watching Meryl Streep and through the magic of Hollywood you were immersed in the fascinating life of Julia Child. Without a doubt, a winner through and through.

Followed up by some delicious Portuguese food and ample amounts of sangria the night was perfect. We will have to do it again in a year or two.
